An ingrown hair is nothing more than a bent hair that grows into the epidermis causing inflammation. The most common symptom is redness of the skin. Pus may collect at the site of the ingrown hair. In men, ingrown hairs most commonly appear on the chin, in women in the bikini and groin areas.
