Folliculitis is a condition caused by Staphylococcus aureus. It occurs most frequently in immunocompromised patients and is localised on different areas of the body, depending on gender. Local treatment is usually sufficient, but in the case of chronic inflammation, general antibiotic treatment may be necessary.
