It is not uncommon for children from adoptive families to be labelled as 'difficult', more problematic and far more likely to require psychological support. Indeed, mental disorders in children in adoptive or foster families are simply more common, but it should always be borne in mind that they do not come out of nowhere. So what psychiatric problems are most commonly observed in children deprived of their biological parents and how are they dealt with?
