Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is a dangerous obstetric pathology that affects 2-4% of pregnancies. In the majority of cases, it leads to preterm birth, which is associated with serious consequences resulting from prematurity and its sequelae. PROM also causes a significant increase in neonatal mortality. For the foetus, as well as for the mother-to-be, the frequent development of intrauterine infection is equally dangerous.
