Childbirth is the period at the end of a nine-month pregnancy. During this time, many changes take place in the woman's body to prepare her for the big day. Most doctors recommend a natural birth, unless of course there are absolute medical indications for a birth by caesarean section.

About 80% of women choose to have a natural birth. There is no use of drugs or surgery, except to strengthen or induce uterine contractions. However, they are not harmful to the mother or the baby.
