Sleep plays an important role in maintaining good health and well-being. There are many problems and obstacles related to women's bodily functions that can contribute to reduced sleep quality. Being able to overcome these obstacles can help to improve quality of life.

Sleep experts say that most women need around seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Compared to men, there are many differences regarding sleep. In general, women sleep more than men, meaning they go to bed and fall asleep earlier. Women's sleep also tends to be lighter and more easily disturbed. Women tend to feel sleepless more often even after sleeping through the night.

There are many factors that can disrupt and affect the quality of women's sleep, some of which change over time. For example, excessive daytime sleepiness is more common in women in their 20s or 30s. Older women, on the other hand, seem to tolerate sleep deprivation better.

Among the factors most commonly affecting sleep quality in women are:

  • life problems
  • depressions
  • illnesses
  • unfavourable sleeping habits
  • use of medication
  • hormonal or physical changes

A very large number of women suffer from sleep disorders. Often the problems causing these disorders are not diagnosed.
