More and more people trying to lose weight (excess weight) are reaching for all sorts of unknown and unproven diets and slimming methods. These are not always healthy for our organism, and what is worse, they are sometimes dangerous. Improper weight loss can lead to damage to many organs and, in extreme cases, to death. When should we abandon weight loss? Is inappropriate weight loss a threat to our health?
At what point does weight loss become dangerous?
Every woman would like to look slim and shapely. When the methods she knows do not lead to a reduction in excess weight, she looks for other methods that are not always healthy and safe for her. These may do more harm than good. It is important to take care of one's health, well-being and the supply of necessary vitamins to the body when losing weight. Not every woman is aware of this.
Many of them, in order to achieve an ideal, slim and beautiful figure, are able to take the most absurd measures and undertake all kinds of methods, the results of which in slimming down are unknown. They are only driven by the desire to have a slim figure, health is not important to them. In this way, they can lead to very serious health problems, the effects of which will not always be reversible.
Absurd methods of losing weight
Absurd and extreme ways to fight excessive weight gain vary greatly.
Some of the most commonly mentioned include:
- starvation,
- low-calorie diets, lead to weight loss but with a simultaneous reduction in muscle mass. A person who is dieting eats too few calories, which in turn is very bad for the body. A drastic diet leads to the loss of large amounts of water and fats from the body. Such "starvation" is particularly dangerous for the body and the patient feels permanently hungry and deprived of energy. Importantly, the lost weight comes back very quickly,
- slimming pills contain large amounts of dehydrating agents and caffeine. They lead to electrolyte imbalances, decreased energy, digestive problems and more. Particularly dangerous are those tablets whose composition we do not know, bought on the Internet or "in the markets". They can do more harm than good. The same is true of other untested dietary supplements (powders, drinks, sweets, lollipops or other foods),
- provoking vomiting and compulsive laxation are a great danger to the patient's health and life. Some patients chew their food and then spit it out, and it often happens that they use laxatives after starving themselves.
Unhealthy dieting can lead to irreversible damage to health and even life. This procedure should be carried out under the guidance of a qualified dietician. Let us remember that health and our psyche are more important than a beautiful silhouette!
