Every car user knows that diesel is different from petrol. However, not all drivers know why these fuels cannot be used interchangeably and why ON is cheaper. Myths and facts about the use and properties of both fuels.

Petrol is a "dry" fuel compared to diesel and does not have the lubricating properties that diesel partially exhibits. Therefore, running a diesel engine on petrol, even for a short time, may damage the injection pump and, consequently, the injectors.

Unfortunately, mistakes are often made by drivers. In order to avoid such mistakes, the Ford brand has applied a special solution of the fuel filler which makes it impossible to fill up the car with diesel fuel instead of petrol and vice versa, comments Marek Godzieszka, Auto-Boss Technical Director

And the rumours are still circulating...

Some drivers believe that it is a good idea to add some petrol to diesel in winter to make the fuel thinner and not "freeze". Yes, such "engineered" fuel may not block the fuel filter, but it will certainly damage injection system components.

A big problem for car users is filling up with so-called "baptised fuel". As the name suggests, this is nothing more than adding water. Within certain limits, the water combines with the fuel. As the engine will not run on water, it is easy to imagine what this can end up with....

It is also worth mentioning at this point the biofuels that have recently appeared on our market. What many motorists do not know is that in order to use this type of fuel, the engine must be adapted to it. This is because modern diesel engines do not tolerate biofuels.
