Hallux valgus - what causes them?

Hallux valgus can occur as a result of genetics. However, the majority of people with hallux valgus are affected by external factors, e.g. poorly fitting shoes. Hallux valgus primarily affects women who like to wear high-heeled shoes. The symptoms are a deformation of the big toe, pain in the metatarsal bones, the appearance of painful corns and, consequently, problems with walking.

The treatment of hallux valgus is based on the use of a number of methods available to reduce pain and gradually restore the correct alignment of the toe. Interdigital separators, hallux patches, soft silicone covers, special shoe inserts or corrective orthoses are available on the market. Remember that hallux valgus is a problem worth seeing a specialist about - sometimes the option of surgery is worth considering to help correct the problem.

Remember, poorly fitting shoes play a key role in the formation of hallux valgus - so it is worth investing in well-chosen footwear, which will not only look elegant on the foot, but above all will not cause their deformation.
