Arterial hypertension is a highly prevalent disease in the population. It can become a direct cause of life- and health-threatening conditions by increasing the risk of stroke or myocardial infarction, according to evidence and clinical practice. Researchers have also investigated the problem in terms of inducing cognitive impairment later in life, without, however, establishing a definitive cause-and-effect relationship.
