Leukaemia is one of the most dangerous blood cancers that can occur in people of any age. It is currently divided into two classes - acute (occurring suddenly) and chronic. Research is ongoing to find a new cure for this disease, which is mainly treated with specialised drugs and chemotherapy.
GeneMed is currently working on marketing a new drug for lymphocytic leukaemia. It is to be based on dendrimers, which are molecules used for in vivo drug transport. The aim of this drug will be to destroy the cells involved in the cancer process. Hopefully, it will become a breakthrough in the treatment of leukaemia.
