Staffs of researchers from all over the world are trying to tackle the coronavirus, which is spreading extremely fast. One of the first guidelines received from the International Health Organisation was to wash hands thoroughly. Following the hygiene regimen outlined by the WHO could significantly slow the progress of the pandemic. However, recent research suggests that even after this activity, germs can remain on the skin, and that wiping hands with paper towels is more effective than using jet dryers.

Based on an analysis of the data, it was concluded that paper towels may not only dry hands effectively, but also remove bacteria and result in reduced air pollution in bathrooms . The authors of the study additionally suggest that this type of towel should be used especially in sensitive areas and areas particularly prone to high bacterial loads, i.e. hospitals, clinics and health centres.

- We believe that our results are relevant in terms of the new coronavirus, which is spreading at a rapid pace around the world. To reduce the risk of contracting the virus, paper towels should be the first choice for hand drying ,' the say the authors of the study.

The experiment on which the above suggestions are based was conducted on four volunteer medical staff. Therefore, no firm conclusions should be drawn.
