In my previous article, I wrote that the proper health of your nails is influenced by your overall health, and that it is best to take care of them from the inside out through a diet rich in vitamins and micronutrients.
In this section, I will focus on the external factors that determine both more and less the appearance of our nails. I will also try to give you some tips and suggestions on how best to take care of them.
External factors that influence the condition of our nails include: appropriate footwear, frequent contact with water and surfactants generally known as cleaning agents, daily hygiene and care. Clean nails are healthy nails, so they should be washed with a soft brush and cared for through a manicure treatment.
It is best not to change nail varnish too often as this requires the use of acetone, which is harmful to nails. It dries out the nails and makes them brittle and fragile. Therefore, use removers containing vitamins and fats.
When painting nails with dark or red or pink nail varnish, the nail plate should be protected with a suitable base coat, preferably a conditioner or colourless nail varnish, to prevent discolouration of the nail plate. The cutting of the cuticle causes it to grow back faster and faster. In order to prevent this, alkaline liquids can be used and the edges of the cuticle can be pushed back with a wooden spatula specially designed for this purpose.
