More and more women are choosing to give birth outside Poland. Most often, these are Polish women staying abroad. It also happens that this is a voluntary decision. Are you preparing to give birth abroad? This article is for you.
In all other cases, a natural birth is recommended. Before the birth, it is a good idea to draw up what is called a birth plan, which sets out all your preferences, especially those regarding the type of anaesthetic and the position in which you want to give birth. The horizontal (supine) position is not very popular in the UK. Women are encouraged to move a lot and to choose a comfortable vertical position. It eases labour pains and helps to avoid a perineal incision, which is not a routinely used procedure here.
After the birth
In the case of a natural birth, the parturient can leave the hospital after min. 6 hours, with the possibility of an extended stay of up to two days. In the case of a caesarean section, this period extends to 3-4 days. At home, we can count on the help of a midwife who will visit us for about 10-28 days. After this period, the health visitor, i.e. the community nurse, takes over the care.

It is a good idea to familiarise yourself thoroughly with all the information about pregnancy and childbirth in the UK. Ignorance causes additional stress, which is not advisable for mums-to-be. It is also a good idea to ask for the opinion of women who already have experience of the subject.
